The Cardprotector launched in 2009, but the Secrid journey started over a decade earlier. In the 1990s, they were running a design agency Spirid, when they noticed a shift in the content of their pockets as the first electronic payment systems were introduced in the Netherlands. In 1997, as cash made way for cards, they created their first minimal wallet: the Secrid Bodycard.
